Alpine has received a huge power boost in the latest WEC Fuji BoP adjustments as Hypercar class entries remain relatively unchanged, while LMGT3 class takes notable weight increases, particularly the Ford Mustang GT3.
The penultimate round of the 2025 WEC season, the Fuji 6 Hours, scheduled for September 28, will showcase these finely calibrated changes crafted to equalize performance while maintaining the spirit of close racing among manufacturer giants.
The headline adjustment under the Hypercar Balance of Performance is the power increase awarded to the Alpine A424 LMDh.
Compared to its performance at the recent Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, the Alpine car benefits from an increase in base power output by 6 kilowatts (approximately 8 brake horsepower), elevating it to 512 kW (686 bhp).
Further, the Alpine’s power gain penalty above 250 km/h (155 mph) has been relaxed to a 3.9% reduction from the previous 4.5%, yielding improved straight-line speed potential.
The measured uplift in power aims to improve the team’s competitiveness after a solid showing in Austin, reflecting race data and ongoing performance monitoring by WEC officials. Notably, Alpine’s minimum weight for Fuji remains unchanged.
Other Hypercars also see minor BoP adjustments: Porsche 963 which triumphed both at Austin and in last year’s Fuji race, along with the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh entries, have each gained 2 kW in base power.
Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh and Toyota GR010 HYBRID entries receive a 1 kW power increase, as Peugeot 9X8 maintains its minimum class weight of 1030 kg and maximum base power capped at 520 kW (697 bhp), while benefiting from a significant easing in power gain restriction above 250 km/h—from minus 7.3% to minus 4.8%.
The precise rationale behind these Balance of Performance adjustments aligns with the WEC’s aim to equalize straightline speeds and overall race pace, derived from telemetry and race simulation data.
No changes were made to the minimum weights for the Hypercar class field, attributed to the fact that the Lone Star Le Mans event in Austin was wet for the majority of the six hours.

However, the LMGT3 class has been largely tweaked in the latest WEC Fuji BoP adjustments, with four cars receiving weight increases for this weekend’s visit to Japan.
Chief among these is the Ford Mustang GT3 that took pole last time out at COTA, with the American marque being handed a 15 kg weight increase.
It gives the Mustang the third-highest base weight in the class at 1349 kg, behind only the Ferrari 296 GT3, up by 4 kg to 1358 kg, and the Lexus RC F GT3 that remains unchanged at 1354 kg for parent brand Toyota’s home event.
The other two cars with weight increases are the BMW M4 GT3 EVO (+8 kg/1340 kg) and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R (+3 kg/1338 kg).
Aston Martin’s Vantage GT3 Evo is the only car to see a reduction, dropping by 5kg to 1339 kg, with the Lexus, McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and Porsche 911 GT3 R all remaining at the same weights at which they ran at COTA.
