Marc Marquez prevailed in a thrilling showdown against home hero Marco Bezzecchi to claim Misano MotoGP victory and break the series’ points record, as his 2025 championship title chase narrows down to one race.
The Spaniard crossed the line just 0.568 seconds ahead of the charging Italian to win Ducati’s home race, marked by crashes, technical issues, and strategic maneuvers that shaped the outcome over 27 laps.
As the lights went out, Pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi took an assertive start on his Aprilia by leaping cleanly from the front row to hold the lead into the first corner, setting the initial pace of the race.
Marc Marquez who started from fourth also made a strong getaway and swiftly overtook Fabio Quartararo and then his own brother Alex Marquez at Turn 1, positioning himself in second behind Bezzecchi.
However, the opening lap saw further drama as Johann Zarco and Joan Mir crashed at Turn 4, effectively ending Honda’s hopes to score some points. Mir, who had missed Saturday’s Sprint due to neck pain, retired immediately but Zarco continued racing.
Early laps saw the front runners settling into a rhythm with Bezzecchi controlling the pace, while Marquez patiently shadowed the Aprilia. Third place was held securely by Alex Marquez who defended well against various challengers.

Meanwhile, KTM’s Pedro Acosta notably surged past the VR46 Ducati duo and even Quartararo’s Yamaha to claim a provisional fourth place. However, his early charge was cut short by a broken chain which forced him to retire, marking the third KTM chain failure of the weekend.
Quartararo initially ran in the top five but soon fell back, while Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia impressively surged up to seventh before crashing out at low speed.
The race’s complexion changed on Lap 12 when Marc Marquez intensified his assault on Marco Bezzecchi who cracked under the mounting pressure and ran wide at Turn 4, effectively handing the lead to Marquez.
Between laps 13 and 20, the two front-runners engaged in a tactical duel trading a series of fastest laps.

While Marquez attempted to extend his advantage to around six-tenths of a second with four laps remaining, Bezzecchi fiercely responded with blistering lap times, closing the gap to less than three-tenths before the final laps.
The closing stages of the race saw Marquez holding a delicate advantage despite incessant pressure from Bezzecchi, who attempted several late overtakes to snatch Misano MotoGP victory on the very final lap.
Yet, Marquez’s composed response ensured he crossed the finish line first with a margin of 0.6 seconds, securing his 11th win of the season and virtually confirming his 2025 championship match point in Japan.
Behind the leading duo, Alex Marquez held a consistent third place, defending his position against a relentless Franco Morbidelli who pressed hard in fourth.
Fabio Di Giannantonio solidified a strong showing from the Pertamina VR46 Ducati team in fifth, while Fermin Aldeguer took sixth, closely followed by Luca Marini who emerged as the leading Honda in seventh.
Quartararo faded to eighth, just ahead of Prima Pramac’s Miguel Oliveira who managed to climb to ninth with a measured ride. Brad Binder was the sole KTM finisher, bringing home tenth after surviving the turbulent race conditions.
Raul Fernandez, Jack Miller, Jorge Martin and Augusto Fernandez rounded out the points. The latter impressed by bringing Yamaha’s new V4 prototype home in 14th place despite serving a double long lap penalty for a jump start.
