Championship leader Oscar Piastri topped red-flagged second practice ahead of rookie Isack Hadjar, just 0.132s adrift, while Max Verstappen placed third, 0.143s off the benchmark.
FP1 pace-setter Fernando Alonso continued to impress with the fourth fastest time, while Lando Norris recovered from pit lane incident to complete qualifying simulation runs with the fifth fastest lap, half a second off his McLaren teammate Piastri.
Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll followed in sixth, closely followed by Esteban Ocon in seventh for Haas and Carlos Sainz of Williams rounding out the top eight.
The Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished ninth and tenth respectively, with Hamilton’s best lap set on medium tires rather than the soft, which several others used, complicating a direct comparison.
Yuki Tsunoda was 11th fastest, followed by Oliver Bearman and Alex Albon – recovering from a rear brake fire earlier in the day – with Nico Hulkenberg taking 14th.
Gabriel Bortoleto, Pierre Gasly, Liam Lawson, Kimi Antonelli, Franco Colapinto, and George Russell finished the session in the latter half of the field.
Notably, Russell was the slowest due to his early crash, failing to set a representative time.
