The Cadillac F1 team has unveiled a special Barcelona testing livery for their first shakedown run, as the American powerhouse prepares to storm the grid as the 11th Formula 1 team in 2026.
The stealthy monochrome design, revealed by General Motors CEO Mark Reuss at the company’s Detroit headquarters, embodies the brand’s storied design heritage while strategically concealing aerodynamic secrets ahead of the competitive battles to come.
As F1 enthusiasts and industry insiders buzz about this development, the livery sets the stage for Cadillac‘s ambitious entry, blending American innovation with precision engineering that defines the pinnacle of motorsport.
The special Barcelona testing livery features a striking black and silver palette, characterized by geometric patterns in gloss and matte finishes that drape over the car’s rear wing and bodywork, making it a masterful camouflage for the underlying technology.
Prominently displayed on the nosecone are the names of the team’s founding members from both the UK and the US operations, underscoring the global collaboration behind the Cadillac F1 project, which spans facilities in Silverstone and stateside hubs.
A large Cadillac crest dominates the design, serving as both a bold emblem of luxury automotive prestige and a practical tool to obscure aero surfaces during the closed-door Barcelona F1 testing from January 26 to 30.

The temporary scheme that will be sported by drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez adheres to longstanding F1 pre-season traditions, where teams prioritize secrecy over spectacle to protect intellectual property from rivals ahead of the regulatory overhaul ushering in the new era.
“Our new testing livery celebrates Detroit’s design heritage and the power of the global Cadillac Formula 1 team, while keeping our design secrets under wraps,” said Reuss.
“The Barcelona F1 test is just the beginning, we can’t wait to share our official race livery with fans around the world next month.”

The Barcelona shakedown itself looms as a critical milestone, a private all-team affair where Cadillac will fire up their yet to be named chassis publicly for the first time, following an anticipated private roll-out at Silverstone earlier in January.
The event allows validation of core systems—brakes, suspension, powertrain integration—without the full aero package, minimizing data spillage to competitors.
With the sport introducing sweeping 2026 F1 regulation changes, including active aerodynamics, sustainable fuels, and lighter chassis mandates, Cadillac’s debut test under this livery becomes a proving ground for their adherence to these rules, setting reliability benchmarks before official Bahrain testing on February 11-13 and 18-20.
Observers expect the monochrome aesthetic to change dramatically into the full race livery, slated for a high-profile Super Bowl reveal on February 8, amplifying Cadillac’s global marketing blitz.
