Envision Racing has officially confirmed Sebastien Buemi Formula E contract extension, securing his position with the team for at least the next two seasons.
The multi-year extension ensures the accomplished Swiss racing driver and Season 2 Formula E champion will continue to compete in the all-electric series as it transitions from the current Gen3 era into the highly anticipated Gen4 commencing at the end of 2026.
Buemi’s new deal not only reflects his value within the team but also strategically positions Envision Racing to maintain a strong and experienced presence on the electric racing grid in the coming seasons.
This contract renewal comes after his impressive performance in Season 11, during which he achieved a remarkable victory at the Monaco E-Prix – his first race win in six years – along with multiple podium finishes.
These achievements have rejuvenated Buemi’s career and reaffirmed his status as one of the most competitive and technically proficient drivers in the championship.
His consistency and ability to extract peak performance from the car have been instrumental in Envision Racing’s continued success and competitiveness within the Formula E paddock.
Buemi’s tenure with Envision began in Season 9, during which he contributed significantly to the team’s results including helping the team claim the Teams’ World Championship alongside teammate Nick Cassidy.
The renewal of Buemi’s contract was not without initial uncertainties as potential scheduling conflicts between Formula E and the World Endurance Championship for the 2027 season raised concerns about the feasibility of a long-term deal.
The 36-year old, who doubles up as a Toyota driver in WEC, suggested the inclusion of exit clauses in his contract to accommodate any future calendar clashes.
However, there will be no such conflicts for the 2026 season, allowing Buemi and Envision Racing to focus fully on their campaign without disruptions.
“I’m delighted to re-sign with Envision Racing,” he said. “We have enjoyed plenty of great moments and results together over the past three seasons, and I am very excited and motivated to add to this.
“Season 11 was a good year for me personally, achieving the win and podiums which have been a great boost for us to keep working hard and achieve more this season.”

Envision Racing board Chairman and CEO Franz Jung echoed these sentiments: “We are very pleased to re-sign Sebastien Buemi Formula E contract. Seb is a great asset to Envision Racing, and we are looking forward to continuing our journey with him.”
The team is yet to confirm who will fill the vacant seat alongside Buemi following the departure of Robin Frijns.
