Formula 1 championship leader Oscar Piastri is set to be honoured in a spectacular fashion at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix.
In a tribute to the McLaren driver’s remarkable achievements and status as a home favourite, a grandstand in Melbourne’s Albert Park will be named after him – the Piastri Grandstand – as the venue hosts the 2026 F1 season-opener on 6-8 March.
The announcement marks a historic moment for the young Australian, who will race in front of his home crowd with an iconic landmark carrying his name directly opposite the pit lane on the main straight, the most coveted viewing location of the circuit.
The grandstand naming follows in the footsteps of legendary Australian drivers like Jack Brabham, Alan Jones, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber who have similarly been recognised with grandstands bearing their names at the Australian GP.
The Piastri Grandstand will be a focal point for fans attending the 2026 F1 race, offering them premium and sought-after seats with an unparalleled view of the race start and the pit lane action.
It will uniquely position spectators directly opposite the McLaren garage, giving them the chance to see Oscar Piastri in all race weekend activities from a close vantage point.
Piastri expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying he never thought such recognition would happen so early in his career.
“I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix,” Piastri said on social media. “It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.
“Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.
“Thanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. The Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is just an extra reason why I can’t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.”

This grandstand is not just a symbol of Piastri’s rising status in the sport but also of the deep connection he shares with Australian motorsport fans who have followed his journey with enthusiasm and pride.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Piastri has quickly ascended through the ranks of Formula 1 dazzling fans and experts alike with his talent and determination.

“Australians take enormous pride in supporting our sporting talent as they compete on the world stage, and now Oscar’s fans here at home will have the opportunity to take that support to another level by sitting in a grandstand named in his honour.”
Piastri has claimed six race wins and six podiums so far this season and currently holds a nine-point lead atop the 2025 F1 championship standings over his closest rival and McLaren teammate Lando Norris.
Ticket sales for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix will open to the general public on September 10 at 12 PM AEST, with fans eagerly anticipating the chance to claim these exclusive seats.
Ticket prices will range from £292 (AU$610) for Saturday’s qualifying, £400 (AU$835) for Sunday’s race and £500 (AU$1,045) for all four days of the event.
