Checkout new 2025 MotoGP Championship Standings following Sunday’s Japanese MotoGP race at Motegi, round 17 of 22.
Marc Marquez’s remarkable performance in Japan has secured him a dominant lead and ultimately crowned him the 2025 MotoGP World Champion, marking his ninth world title across all classes and seventh in MotoGP, equalling the legendary Valentino Rossi’s record.
Marquez’s consistency throughout the season has been unparalleled, amassing 541 points, an insurmountable gap ahead of his rivals with five races remaining in the calendar.
The Japanese Grand Prix saw Francesco Bagnaia claim his second win of the 2025 season, executing a near-flawless race to take victory ahead of his teammate Marquez, who finished second.
Bagnaia’s victory at Motegi elevated him to third in the rider standings with 274 points. His strong performance ensures that he remains a key contender for the runner-up spot in the championship, although his 267-point deficit to his Ducati teammate shows the gulf in points between the leader and the rest of the pack.
Meanwhile, Marc’s brother Alex Marquez continues to hold a secure second place with 340 points. Despite not having a standout weekend at the Japanese round, his points tally maintains a comfortable buffer over Bagnaia and other contenders.
Following closely behind Bagnaia is Marco Bezzecchi, stationed at fourth on the leaderboard with 242 points. The Aprilia rider remains within striking distance of the top three but faces a considerable points gap.
Franco Morbidelli of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing holds fifth place with 196 points, narrowly ahead of Red Bull KTM Factory’s Pedro Acosta, who earned valuable points despite dropping back after initial strong early race performance, sitting at sixth with 195 points.
Other riders in contention and pushing hard include Fabio di Giannantonio at seventh with 182 points, Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo in eighth with 149 points, rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer in ninth with 147 points, and Johann Zarco at tenth securing 124 points.
