Genesis GMR‑001 Hypercar liveries revealed ahead of 2026 WEC debut

Genesis Magma Racing has unveiled two distinct liveries for its GMR‑001 Hypercar as the Korean luxury marque makes historic FIA World Endurance Championship debut in 2026.

The revelation, timed perfectly ahead of the team’s debut at the season-opening 6 Hours of Imola from April 17 to 19, showcases Genesis’s ambitious entry into top-tier endurance racing, blending cutting-edge technology with the brand’s signature Athletic Elegance design philosophy.

The project is underpinned by a two‑car assault, with the No. 17 and No. 19 GMR‑001s set to line up on the grid for the full 2026 WEC calendar, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Genesis opted to launch a special livery for each car after running a variety of different color schemes during extensive testing ahead of their rookie campaign.

Both Genesis GMR‑001 Hypercar liveries are a celebration of Korean heritage, wrapped in a modern motorsport aesthetic.

The No. 17 entry shared by André Lotterer, Pipo Derani and Mathys Jaubert will feature a predominantly dark‑silver base, evoking the metallic sheen of high‑end luxury vehicles while also providing a neutral backdrop for aggressive accenting.

On the other hand, the No. 19 Hypercar piloted by Mathieu Jaminet, Paul‑Loup Chatin and Dani Juncadella will sport a black-based livery.

Orange detailing, strongly associated with the Magma sub‑brand, slices through both cars’ surfaces, creating visual continuity between the nose, sidepods and rear deck.

The team’s logo is integrated with the Korean Hangeul lettering spelling “Magma,” ensuring that the car not only races as a technical statement but also as a national and cultural emblem on the world stage.

Further underlining the Korean connection, elements of the South Korean flag appear subtly woven into the design, reinforcing the idea that this is not just another manufacturer project but a concerted effort to put the country’s engineering and design excellence on full display.

“While working on different solutions and options for the final livery, we landed with two strong candidates during our last test of 2025,” said Hyundai Motor Group President and Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke.

“One black car with Liquid Metal Hangeul lettering, and one Liquid Metal car with black graphics.

“This inverted solution that was instantly gave us a difficult decision to make. We looked at the feedback online and we quickly realised that by choosing just one livery we would have disappointed a good portion of our fans.”
