The Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar features a striking new livery marking the start of an ambitious 2026 World Endurance Championship campaign for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.
The freshly styled #93 and #94 9X8s were revealed in Paris at the historic Atelier Vendôme in late February, with the design set to make its racing debut at the 2026 WEC season opening Qatar 1812 on March 28.
Departing from the lime‑green and white scheme that has defined the 9X8 since 2024, the new livery adopts a bold white‑and‑black striped pattern accented by vivid red detailing, giving the Lion brand one of the most recognizable silhouettes on the grid this year.
The visual overhaul is more than a simple cosmetic exercise; it forms a deliberate piece of Peugeot’s performance storytelling, drawing a direct line between the 9X8 Hypercar and the marque’s celebrated GTi heritage.
The white, black, and red palette is consciously evocative of the original colour options offered on the Peugeot 205 GTi when it was launched in 1984, a car that became an icon of hot‑hatch performance and helped cement the GTi badge in global motorsport culture.
This positions the Peugeot 9X8 as a spiritual successor to the GTi lineage, reinforcing the brand’s identity around accessible, yet sharply honed performance.
Crafted through a seamless collaboration between Peugeot Design and Peugeot Sport, this fresh aesthetic interprets the brand’s “Hypergraphs” performance language in a modern, aggressive manner, incorporating subtle nods to the iconic claw motif that has long symbolized the lion marque’s ferocity on the track.
“Unveiling a new livery is always a key moment for the brand and for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies,” said team principal Emmanuel Esnault. “It symbolizes the start of a new season and a new dynamic driven by renewed ambitions, while remaining firmly rooted in Peugeot’s heritage and identity.
“The new livery fully embodies the spirit of the project and the close link between competition and the brand. It is also a valuable opportunity to bring our partners together to share this important moment that launches the 2026 season.

Peugeot’s decision to overhaul the 9X8’s appearance for 2026 WEC comes at a time when the program is seeking a more decisive foothold in the Hypercar class.
The car remains largely mechanically unchanged from its 2025 configuration, with the design team opting instead to focus on packaging, cooling, and reliability rather than a full‑scale aerodynamic or powertrain overhaul.
However, WEC’s new sporting regulations contain a provision for additional jokers to be handed to Hypercar manufacturers that fall below a certain performance threshold, which could lead to another major revision of the car in 2027.
