Australian driver Oscar Piastri emerged victorious after controlling much of the race, while his McLaren teammate and rival Lando Norris endured heartbreak as a mechanical failure in the closing laps forced his retirement.
Max Verstappen capitalized on Norris’s misfortune to secure second place, much to the delight of the home crowd, while Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar claimed a remarkable third-place finish, marking his first career F1 podium.
Mercedes driver George Russell finished just off the podium in fourth, supported by solid showings from Alex Albon in fifth for Williams and Oliver Bearman who started from the pit lane to finish an impressive sixth for Haas.
Aston Martin enjoyed a solid weekend after Lance Stroll rose from the back to finish seventh ahead of teammate Fernando Alonso in eighth, while Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda and Haas’ Esteban Ocon completed the top-10.
Ferrari suffered a disastrous day after Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton retired from the race. Hamilton crashed into the barriers on lap 23, while Leclerc retired on lap 30 after colliding with Kimi Antonelli who also exited the race.
