Aston Martin has unveiled a special livery for the 2026 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix that will make the AMR26 appear to change colour as it speeds through the iconic Principality streets.
The striking one-off design marks one of the most visually ambitious racing liveries in recent history, created in partnership with principal partner Maaden and named “From Rock to Racetrack” centers on the transformation of raw materials into advanced engineering products.
The colour-shifting livery represents a significant departure from Aston Martin’s traditional British Racing Green scheme and showcases the team’s willingness to push creative boundaries while maintaining strong partnerships with key sponsors who share their vision for excellence.
The effect is created using a special iridescent wrap material that reacts differently depending on lighting conditions and viewing angles, causing the car to visibly change colour throughout the race weekend as it navigates Monaco’s challenging street circuit.
The livery takes inspiration from Aston Martin’s exclusive Andromeda Red paint finish, previously seen on the limited-run Valour and Valhalla hypercars, and incorporates shades influenced by gold, copper, aluminium and iron into the overall design.

Aston Martin says more than 100 pattern variations were produced during development, while approximately 30 design concepts were explored before the final version was chosen.

Maaden remained involved throughout the process, providing feedback as the design evolved and ensuring the final product accurately represented their brand identity while meeting the team’s standards for racing performance.
The special Aston Martin F1 Monaco GP livery also prompted the development of new digital tools, with custom software created to refine the hexagonal pattern across different bodywork surfaces and virtual Monaco simulations helping the team assess how the colour-shifting material would appear under real-world lighting conditions.
The special design is not limited to the car alone, as it will also appear on the driver race suits of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll and on the helmets and overalls of the number one mechanics supporting both drivers, creating a cohesive visual identity throughout the entire team operation.
“This weekend we are proud to celebrate our principal partner Maaden through this unique livery takeover at the Monaco Grand Prix,” said Aston Martin managing director commercial Jefferson Slack.
“More than a livery alone, the whole campaign highlights the important role Maaden plays in shaping and transforming materials into components we all use including in the world of Formula 1.
“We look forward to seeing the striking Maaden design on the streets of Monaco this weekend.”
