Lando Norris stormed to a commanding victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix to seize the Formula 1 Championship lead by a slender one-point margin.
Charles Leclerc put on a resilient performance to hold onto second place, fiercely defending his position against a late charge from Max Verstappen who secured the final podium spot.
The Red Bull driver showed remarkable speed in the closing stages of the race, but his effort to close the gap was thwarted by a Virtual Safety Car triggered on the penultimate lap, which neutralized the running and prevented a potential overtaking opportunity.
Meanwhile, Oliver Bearman delivered a breakthrough performance to claim a remarkable fourth-place finish for Haas, matching the best result in both his F1 career and the team’s history.
Norris’s McLaren teammate and former championship leader Oscar Piastri endured a tough day, finishing in fifth, just ahead of Mercedes pair of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Lewis Hamilton finished eighth after being hit with a 10-second time penalty, while Haas’ Esteban Ocon and Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top ten.
