New 2025 F1 Championship Standings after United States Grand Prix Max Verstappen Lando Norris Oscar Piastri

Max Verstappen cuts Oscar Piastri‘s championship lead to just 40 points following the 2025 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, as the title battle heats up with just five races remaining.

Verstappen’s flawless performance in Austin saw him lead every lap to claim his fifth win of the season just a day after he won the sprint race, adding the maximum 33 points to his tally.

This comes after McLaren endured a difficult weekend at the Circuit of the Americas after both Lando Norris and Piastri crashed out of Saturday’s sprint, before finishing second and a distant fifth, respectively, in Sunday’s Grand Prix.

However, Norris‘s strong podium finish narrowed the gap to Piastri to just 14 points in the drivers standings, putting intense pressure on the championship leader as they head towards the closing stages of the season.

Mercedes’ George Russell also remains in contention despite having underperformed slightly at the US GP where he finished sixth after a poor start.
