Nicolo Bulega wins Czech WorldSBK Race 2, edges Toprak Razgatlioglu in a photo finish

Full 2025 Czech WorldSBK Race 2 Results – Nicolo Bulega narrowly edged out Toprak Razgatlioglu in a last-lap duel to claim first win at Most by just 0.027 seconds.

The race not only showcased the sheer skill and determination of the world’s top superbike riders but also played a pivotal role in shaping the World Superbike Championship narrative as the season reached its midpoint.

From the moment the lights went out, the intensity was palpable. Nicolo Bulega riding for Aruba.it Racing Ducati made a perfect start, seizing the holeshot for the third consecutive time over the weekend.

Bulega’s launch off the line put him immediately in control but he was closely shadowed by Toprak Razgatlioglu, the reigning World Superbike Champion and a rider with a formidable record at Most.

The opening corners were chaotic with a significant incident at Turn 1 involving Alvaro Bautista and Xavi Vierge. Bautista was eliminated from the race after contact with Jonathan Rea which also took out Vierge and brought out early drama.

Rea was subsequently handed a double long-lap penalty for his role in the collision, a decision that would impact his race and the overall standings.

As the Czech WorldSBK Race 2 field settled, Bulega led the way with Razgatlioglu in hot pursuit followed by Sam Lowes and Danilo Petrucci.

The opening laps saw Bulega maintain a slender lead but Razgatlioglu’s relentless pace was evident. The Turkish rider was consistently faster in the first three sectors of the circuit, applying constant pressure and probing for weaknesses in Bulega’s defense.

Despite Razgatlioglu’s superior speed through most of the lap Bulega’s mastery of the final sector allowed him to keep his rival at bay ensuring that the gap never exceeded 0.6 seconds.

However, the race’s complexion changed around the halfway mark after Razgatlioglu made his move on Lap 12, executing a decisive pass at Turn 17 to snatch the lead. Bulega undeterred responded immediately, reclaiming the position on the home straight only for Razgatlioglu to counterattack at Turn 2.

The back-and-forth battle epitomized the high level of competition between the two title contenders with neither willing to concede an inch.

For the next several laps, Razgatlioglu controlled the pace at the front with his BMW M1000 RR showing impressive speed and agility. However, as the race entered its final stages tyre degradation began to play a significant role.

Sensing an opportunity, Nicolo Bulega increased his intensity, pushing “200% every lap” in his own words, refusing to let the gap widen and keeping himself within striking distance.

The final lap was a masterclass in racecraft and determination as Bulega aware that his only real chance lay in the last sector, attacked with everything he had. Sliding, spinning, and riding on the absolute limit he closed the gap to Razgatlioglu through the technical final corners.

As they exited the last corner onto the main straight Bulega took a wider, faster line, using the superior traction of his Ducati Panigale V4 R to draw alongside Razgatlioglu.

In a heart-stopping drag race to the finish, Bulega edged ahead by the narrowest of margins denying Razgatlioglu a hat-trick of wins at Most and securing his first-ever victory at the Czech circuit.

Behind the leading duo, Danilo Petrucci delivered another consistent performance for Barni Spark Racing after finishing third marking his third podium of the weekend.

Sam Lowes narrowly missed out on a podium, finishing fourth after a strong ride while Remy Gardner completed the top five for GYTR GRT Yamaha. Axel Bassani bounced back from two challenging races earlier in the weekend to finish sixth.

Iker Lecuona was the sole Honda finisher, bringing his Team HRC machine home in seventh and salvaging points for the Japanese manufacturer after Vierge’s early exit.

Yari Montella equaled his best result in the championship with an eighth-place finish for Barni Spark Racing while Andrea Locatelli after a tough weekend managed ninth for Pata Maxus Yamaha.

Garrett Gerloff representing the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team rounded out the top ten, making a notable climb from 12th on the grid and giving Kawasaki a much-needed presence in the upper echelons of the results.
