Dillon’s car came alive in the second half particularly following a round of green-flag stops that saw his pit crew execute flawlessly, putting him in position to attack for the lead.
As Dillon assumed the top spot the action behind him intensified with Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney, and Joey Logano all within striking distance, poised to capitalize on any sign of weakness.
A critical late-race caution threatened to upend Dillon’s rhythm as the field bunched up for a decisive restart, with Bowman’s No.48 Chevrolet and Blaney’s No.12 Ford stalking Dillon’s rear bumper.
Yet Dillon maintained remarkable composure, defending his position with veteran precision and expert timing in lapped traffic. He incrementally widened his gap, ultimately crossing the finish line 2.471 seconds ahead of Bowman, with Blaney trailing at 8.246 seconds adrift.
“Man, that feels good,” said Dillon after his sixth career win. “Got to thank the good Lord above.
“I really wanted that one. Last year hurt really bad, just going through the whole process of it. But this one feels so sweet. Man, I love Richmond. Our Winchester Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet is really good.
“Didn’t feel great (all week). I’m actually racing with a broken rib right now for the last two weeks. Man, that was awesome.”

Blaney battled at the front, leading for 39 laps and contending for victory up until the closing stages before settling for third ahead of his Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Austin Cindric who rounded out the top five.
Sixth place went to Kyle Larson who rebounded from a mid-race penalty and carved through the pack. Behind him Daniel Suárez delivered a seventh-place finish for Trackhouse Racing after leveraging smart tire strategy and capitalizing on restarts to climb from the mid-pack.
Josh Berry rewarded Wood Brothers Racing with an impressive eighth while Brad Keselowski claimed ninth after conceding ground in the closing laps as his Ford ran through a long green-flag stint.
Denny Hamlin completed the top ten after a bruising day that saw him navigate traffic and escape several close calls, including a contact-heavy exchange in the middle stint.
Notably, Zane Smith turned heads with an eleventh-place run making the most of his open-class entry while William Byron finished 12th and found positives in a particularly challenging run.
The high attrition rate was among the NASCAR Richmond highlights; a 10-car incident led to the early exits of drivers such as Justin Haley and Chase Elliott.
Both drivers retired before the midpoint as the disappointment compounded Elliott’s bid for the regular season title, finding himself needing a miraculous Daytona result to continue his season pursuit.
Both Tyler Reddick and Bowman stand to transfer into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs on points if there is no new winner at Daytona next week. Reddick won the opening stage and led 41 laps but finished 34th, four laps down after his car was hit in tight racing.
Reddick’s 23XI Racing teammate Bubba Wallace who won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway three weeks ago, led a race best 123 laps and won the second stage, but a pit road mishap derailed him all the way down to 28th.
