The ex-wife of Jenson Button, Jessica Michibata, is said to have been detained in Japan after ordering a package containing MDMA to be sent to her hotel.
According to sources, Jessica Michibata, the ex-wife of former Formula 1 driver Jenson Button, was detained in Tokyo, Japan, after receiving an MDMA package in her and a friend’s hotel room.
According to sources, a customs officer discovered the bag containing the narcotics in a box that had come in from abroad.
The hotel was invaded by police from Tokyo’s Metropolitan Police, who detained Jessica and another person. The model, however, refutes the accusations made against her.
A statement from Jessica’s modeling agency, Revive, read as follows: “We would like to apologize to all concerned and fans for causing great concern due to the news of Jessica Michibata, who belongs to our company.”
“Currently, our company is unable to contact Michibata directly, and we are collecting information to confirm the facts.”
“As the investigative agency is currently investigating, we will refrain from providing further details.”
Jessica and Jenson began dating eight months after first meeting at a hotel bar in Tokyo in 2008.
However they split up after only two years but the couple revived their passion in 2014and the F1 driver proposed as a result of their rekindled romance. On Valentine’s Day, Jenson proposed with a ring that is thought to be worth about £250,000.
The 2009 Formula 1 world champion and the Japanese model wed in December 2014 and exchanged vows in Hawaii after several years of intermittent dating. In the end, they separated amicably, according to a spokesperson for the racing driver, and filed for divorce a year later.
“Jenson and Jessica have decided to go their separate ways and it is very amicable… There is no one else involved,” a spokesperson for Button gave the news back then.
The couple actually didn’t live together during their marriage as Michibata resided in Japan with her mother while Button was based in Monaco. Michibata recently visited the Japanese capital even though she currently resides in the US with her daughter who she gave birth to in 2017 but the paternity is still unknown.
Her daughter was born on October 20, three weeks ahead of her due date at a Los Angeles hospital.
