Marco Bezzecchi claimed a commanding flag-to-flag victory in Sunday’s race at Chang International Circuit, marking a triumphant start to the season for Aprilia.
The Italian rider, starting from pole position, showcased exceptional control and strategy amid challenging conditions that forced multiple bike swaps, ultimately finishing over 5.5 seconds ahead of Pedro Acosta as reigning champion Marc Marquez was forced to retire dramatically due to tyre issues.
Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez completed the podium in third followed by stablemates Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura, as the manufacturer locked out four spots in the top five.
Fabio Di Giannantonio was the leading Ducati finisher in sixth as VR46 teammate Franco Morbidelli slotted into eighth, the duo split by KTM’s Brad Binder who salvaged seventh after a conservative strategy that prioritized finishing over heroics.
Francesco Bagnaia crossed the line ninth despite battling setup woes all weekend, while Luca Marini rounded out the top ten as the best of the Hondas.
