Ferrari signs multi-year partnership with American tech giant

Ferrari signs a multi-year partnership deal with HP

The Ferrari F1 team has announced a landmark deal with American technology company HP.

Ferrari has signed a multi-year partnership deal with HP that will see the second-largest PC vendor in the world serve as the racing team’s official title sponsor, according to a joint statement released by the two companies on Wednesday.

The new arrangement will also see the HP logo get its debut on Ferrari’s F1 cars ahead of the Miami Grand Prix on May 3-5 and the official team name change to Scuderia Ferrari HP from then onwards. However, no financial details were provided.

This comes after Ferrari revealed that they will be sporting a unique Miami livery that will mark the return of the blue colour scheme borrowed from their historic cars from the 1960s. Representatives from both parties will be present for the livery’s unveiling ahead of the race in Florida next weekend.

HP’s sponsorship will cover Ferrari F1, Esports, and Ferrari-sponsored F1 Academy entries with the US tech giant supplying the team with products and services as part of their agreement.

The team shared renderings showcasing how the HP branding will look on its cars and driver’s overalls. It will also be featured on the F1 Academy series car driven by its junior driver Maya Weug, as part of the Miami Grand Prix support package.

“Our founder passed on to us his continuous will to progress, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said. “From this stems our drive to innovate on the road and on the track, as well as our commitment to a sustainable future, from carbon neutrality to the education of the younger generation.

“In HP we have found the same values, which make it an ideal partner. We look forward to starting our collaboration and facing new opportunities and challenges together.”

HP chief executive officer Enrique Lores added: “With technology, performance and exceptional craftsmanship fuelling the future, the partnership between HP and Ferrari is a natural fit.

“Both brands are built on rich histories that have endured the test of time. Through this unique collaboration, we also have an opportunity to reach new audiences, drive business growth, and create lasting impact for our shared clients and communities.

“Together we will leverage the global stage of racing to accelerate sustainable innovation.”

Hewlett Packard is currently present in Formula 1 serving as Mercedes’ partner. However, the Brackley team is associated with Hewlett Packard Enterprise which is an entirely different entity.

The latter, which focuses on networking and cloud technologies, runs independently from the consumer division after the parent company was broken down into two separate enterprises in 2015.

HP previously partnered with Williams, sponsoring the Formula 1 team from 2003 to 2005. On the other hand, Tobacco company Philip Morris International served as Ferrari’s previous title sponsor, using the team to promote its Mission Winnow program at venues where it was permitted in 2021.
