Fernando Alonso's Renault R24 set for auction

Fernando Alonso’s Renault R24 F1 car from the end of the 2004 season will go up for auction on Wednesday.

Alonso drove the R24-07 to victory in the final three races of 2004. High-end auctioneers RM Sotheby’s will auction it on February 2, predicting it will fetch between 300,000 and 385,000 when bids are accepted.

The Renault R24 is among dozens of classic sports and racing cars up for auction Wednesday. Other classic sports and racing cars are also planned for the auction.

The news comes as fans of Formula 1’s three-litre V10 engine generation were delighted in Abu Dhabi in 2020 as Alonso demonstrated his title-winning R25 chassis. Although its predecessor won just one race in Monaco, the chassis provided the platform for Alonso to win his first World Championship.

A variety of classic Ferrari vehicles will be available for purchase, including a 1975 Dino 308 GT4 and a 1959 250 GT Series II Cabriolet. There will also be a 1996 Ferrari F310 Formula 1 show car among the lots that will be sold. It is expected to sell for between £50,000 and £85,000.

Although many items are priced well below six figures, an Aston Martin DB4 Convertible is expected to fetch more than £1million, while the Ferrari F50 is listed as the most expensive, with a price tag that’s predicted between £2.5million and £2.75million.

Besides Alonso’s Renault, Kimi Raikkonen has also sold his one-off personalised Ferrari F12 embossed with his racing number and logo, which was placed on the market for the low, low price of around £2million.
