Fernando Alonso rumored to be dating Austrian journalist Andrea Schlager

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso is a popular figure in F1, and his new partner drew his attention after his comeback to the sport last year, with rumours confirming they are dating.

Fernando Alonso’s comeback to Formula One in 2021 created quite a stir, and it appears that it has touched his personal life as well, with the driver admitting that he and Andrea Schlager are now a couple.

The Alpine driver and the Austrian journalist were seen flirting on Instagram, liking each other’s photos on a regular basis, sparking rumours of a blossoming romance.

The rumors appear to be correct, as the pair has been spending more time together and tagging each other in photos, with Spanish media reporting that they’re dating and that Alonso flew to Austria in a private jet to spend time with the brunette – while the pair both shared pictures together after the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, which seemed to confirm the news.

Alonso captioned a video of Schlager riding a horse, ‘Happy horse, powerful beauty,’ while Schlager was shown wearing a helmet similar to Alonso’s and tagged him in the image with the caption’safety first.’

The Austrian journalist tweeted another photo with Alonso earlier this week, maybe the strongest hint of the pair’s relationship yet, and added she was ‘looking forward to another summer’ – when Formula One takes a break from the season.

Schlager has extensive experience in Formula One media coverage and is perhaps Austria’s most well-known F1 presenter, having begun her career in the office of former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Her return to F1 coverage coincided with Alonso’s return to the grid last season, and she looks to have captured the former world champion’s eye with her appearance.

Alonso was previously married to Spanish singer Raquel del Rosario, but the couple divorced in 2011. After that, the driver dated Italian model Linda Morselli for five years before their split in February of this year.

Alonso has struggled with Alpine this season after a promising start that saw him finish ninth in the season opening in Bahrain, but he has had two DNFs since then, with both of his finishes being outside the points, most recently in Miami, where he finished 11th after being handed two time penalties.

Alonso has only scored two points this season, compared to Esteban Ocon’s 24 as the team gears up for the Spanish Grand prix in little over a week’s time.
