Christian Horner set to attend Red Bull 2024 launch event

Red Bull has confirmed that Christian Horner who is currently under fire will attend their 2024 launch event despite an ongoing investigation into his conduct.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner is scheduled to make an appearance at the team’s 2024 launch event on Thursday, despite the team principal being under investigation for alleged “inappropriate behaviour.”

Horner is scheduled to address the media as the reigning world champions unveil their RB20 F1 challenger, although his capacity to speak freely on the topic may be restricted for legal reasons given the uncertainty surrounding his future as the team boss.

The 50-year-old is at the center of an internal investigation after receiving accusations of engaging in “inappropriate behaviour” but he has refuted those claims emphatically.

Last Friday, Horner—who has overseen Red Bull Racing since it launched its F1 operation in 2005—met in central London with an independent attorney entrusted with heading the investigation as the outcome is not yet imminent.

Red Bull has revealed that he will be present at the team’s Milton Keynes headquarters for a live-streamed performance. The event is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. GMT on Thursday.

Horner was also present at Silverstone on Tuesday for a covert Red Bull filming day regardless of the ongoing investigation by the team’s parent company Red Bull GmbH as he carries on his duties as team principal and chief executive.

On the day which will be marked as a celebration of Red Bull’s 20 years in Formula 1, team pilots Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will also be present at the launch event at the team’s Milton Keynes headquarters.

In a fresh turn of events on Wednesday, Horner’s close friend and former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone refuted rumours that he offered him counsel to resign.

Horner is the longest-serving team principal in Formula One history. He is married to former Spice Girl Geri Horner and has overseen six constructors’ championship victories and seven drivers’ championship victories.

Horner, who signed a contract extension with Red Bull in 2021, was named a CBE in the new year’s honors list after receiving an OBE in 2013 for his services to motorsport.

The inaugural race of the record-breaking 2024 Formula 1 season will take place in Bahrain on Saturday, March 2 as pre-season testing begins one week beforehand on February 21 at the same venue and Horner is expected to attend both events.
