Lando Norris has firmly established his dominance at the top of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship standings, extending his lead following a clinical drive to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The McLaren driver executed his seventh win of the season at Sao Paulo GP, further solidifying his championship credentials and increasing the gap to his closest rival and teammate Oscar Piastri.
The latest drivers’ standings show Norris now stands 24 points ahead of Piastri, with Max Verstappen still within striking range, albeit 49 points adrift and with only three main events and one sprint race remaining in the season.
Piastri’s fifth-place finish in Brazil may have all but ended his championship ambitions; the Australian struggled to match Norris’s race pace, falling further behind in the standings and seeing his own chances slip as the season heads into its final stretch.
Meanwhile, Verstappen’s podium finish kept him in title contention. Despite starting Sao Paulo GP from the pit lane due to technical issues, the Dutchman clawed his way through the field, ultimately finishing third and collecting crucial championship points.
Kimi Antonelli and George Russell continue to play a vital role in Mercedes’ push for second in the championship, now sitting seventh and fourth in the standings, respectively.
