Initial renders of the highly anticipated Mercedes 2026 F1 car, the W17, were revealed as the team confirmed groundbreaking Microsoft sponsorship deal for the upcoming Formula 1 season.
This announcement marks a pivotal moment for the Silver Arrows as they gear up for what promises to be a transformative season under radically new regulations.
The Mercedes W17 not only embodies the team’s adaptation to the new-era chassis and power unit rules but also signals their renewed ambition to reclaim dominance after a resilient 2025 campaign that saw them secure second place in the constructors’ standings.
The fresh Mercedes 2026 F1 livery captivated the motorsport world, with initial renders showcasing a sleek evolution of the iconic Silver Arrows livery in black and silver, accented by striking turquoise highlights that pay homage to long-standing partner Petronas.
The Microsoft logo emerges as a bold new addition, prominently displayed on the airbox and front wing endplates, reflecting the tech giant’s shift from previous Alpine sponsorship to align with Mercedes’ cutting-edge operations.

Industry estimates peg the Microsoft sponsorship deal at around $60 million annually, potentially ranking it as the third-most lucrative individual sponsorship on the grid, trailing only Petronas’ $75 million title deal and Red Bull’s Oracle partnership.
For Mercedes, this influx not only bolsters financial stability under the heightened budget cap but also integrates AI-driven simulations and predictive modeling, crucial for optimizing the W17’s performance in an era demanding millisecond precision.

Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff emphasized the car’s readiness for Formula 1’s seismic shift, honed through rigorous development on active aerodynamics, sustainable fuels, and power unit efficiency.
“Formula 1 will undergo significant change in 2026, and we are prepared for that transition,” Wolff said. “The new regulations demand innovation and absolute focus across every area of performance.
“Our work on the new car, and the long-term development of the power unit and advanced sustainable fuels with Petronas, reflects that approach. Releasing the first images of the Mercedes W17 is simply the next step in that process.
“It represents the collective, sustained effort of our teams in Brixworth and Brackley. We will continue to push hard in the months ahead.”
The new Mercedes 2026 F1 car will be raced by drivers George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who finished fourth and seventh respectively in last year’s drivers’ championship.
This launch follows closely after a shakedown at Silverstone, where the car completed initial runs alongside nearly half of the expanded 11-team grid, capitalizing on the FIA’s extended testing allowances due to the comprehensive regulation overhaul.
