Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass in precision to secure pole position for the 2025 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, beating McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The Red Bull driver clocked a stunning lap time of 1m22.207s in Q3, edging out Norris by 0.201 seconds while his teammate Piastri claimed the third spot on the grid.
Mercedes’ George Russell trailed the leading trio by a whisker in fourth, while Charles Leclerc climbed to fifth after extracting every ounce from his Ferrari SF-25 despite brake concerns.
Fernando Alonso followed in sixth place after delivering a late flyer in his Aston Martin, matching Gabriel Bortoleto’s identical time for Sauber’s seventh but prevailing on countback.
Esteban Ocon secured eighth for Haas, while Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar and Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top ten, the latter having aborted his Q3 run with no time set as he instead focused on giving teammate Verstappen a tow.
