Alex Marquez once again emerged as the pacesetter in Friday afternoon’s practice for 2025 Portimao MotoGP ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Pedro Acosta.
Bagnaia initially had a quiet start in the morning practice but returned with vigor in the afternoon, shaving seconds off his times and ultimately securing second place just 0.03 seconds behind Marquez.
Meanwhile, KTM’s Acosta clocked the third fastest lap with Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi close on his heels.
Honda enjoyed a solid session with both Joan Mir and Johann Zarco finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, followed by VR46 Ducati’s Fabio Di Giannantonio and Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer.
Pol Espargaro impressed in the role of Maverick Vinales’ stand-in at Red Bull KTM Tech3 after claiming ninth as Trackhouse Aprilia rookie Ai Ogura completed the top ten.
Meanwhile, Nicolo Bulega who is standing in for the injured Marc Marquez at Ducati Lenovo made a notable impression despite limited MotoGP mileage prior to the event, taking 17th.
