Chase Elliott’s thrilling victory at Kansas secured him a coveted spot in the Playoffs Round of 8, joining fellow race winner Ryan Blaney who clinched his advancement at New Hampshire.
Elliott’s win not only boosted his playoff points but also intensified the battle among the remaining drivers striving to advance from the Round of 12 as the playoffs approach the cutoff race at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Roval.
Just below the playoff cutline is Ross Chastain, who sits ninth with 13 points below and he is the only driver who can realistically secure advancement in the upcoming week.
Bubba Wallace remains 26 points below the cutoff after a final lap bump from Denny Hamlin denied him victory, while his 23XI Racing teammate Tyler Reddick follows with -29 points.
Austin Cindric suffered extensive damage from his crash on Lap 218 and stayed in the pits for an extended period, finishing four laps down in 30th. Cindric is last among the playoff contenders, sitting 48 points below the cutline.
