Williams 2026 F1 livery unveiled amid delayed FW48 car

Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon fronted a revamped Williams 2026 F1 livery for the FW48 challenger as the team confirmed partnership with British bank Barclays for the upcoming Formula 1 campaign.

The timing of the livery launch is itself significant, coming just a day ahead of filming day where the team is expected to conduct its first shakedown before proper track appearance at Bahrain pre-season testing.

Williams missed the Barcelona outing due to alleged crash test failures and chassis weight issues placing them on the back foot in terms of mileage and reliability work, making the visual reveal even more important as a morale‑boosting moment for staff and fans.

The team rolled out the vibrant gloss‑blue scheme at its Grove base in front of more than 1,200 employees, with team principal James Vowles and drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon leading the reveal.

The fresh Williams FW48 livery features a deep, high‑gloss blue that floods the chassis and nose section, creating a cohesive and modern base that is then broken up by a flowing black element that sweeps from the side of the monocoque through to the rear of the car.

The black band is framed by a crisp red and white keyline, a design cue that deliberately echoes the championship‑winning Williams machines of the 1990s, including Nigel Mansell’s FW14B and Damon Hill’s FW18, the latter of which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026.

By reintroducing this classic motif, Williams is threading a narrative of continuity, reminding fans and rivals alike that the Grove squad remains one of the sport’s most decorated constructors.

Beyond the heritage‑inspired lines, Williams 2026 F1 livery introduces a more prominent use of white across the sidepods, front wing, and rear wing, giving the FW48 a lighter, more open visual feel compared with recent iterations.

This expanded white surface area also serves a practical branding purpose, offering larger canvases for partners such as Komatsu, whose logos feature across the sidepod and rear wing elements.

New banking partner Barclays also makes a significant visual impact with its cyan‑blue branding integrated into the sidepod and rear wing sections, reflecting a renewed commercial relationship that dates back to the days of founder Sir Frank Williams.

Team principal James Vowles framed Williams FW48’s appearance as the next step in their ongoing recovery, describing 2026 as a pivotal year in the team’s journey back to the top.

“2026 is the next step on the path back towards the top for Atlassian Williams F1 Team as we enter a new era for the sport, and we are excited about the season ahead,” Vowles said.

“We have a great driver line-up, some fantastic new partners, an ever-growing fanbase and want to build on the success we tasted last year, but we are not naïve about the challenge ahead of us.

“Nobody quite knows what will happen at the first race but we are looking forward to finding out, and hope our fans will love cheering us on with this great new livery.”

Under his leadership, Williams secured fifth place in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship, its best result since 2017 and a clear indication that the technical and cultural rebuild is gaining traction.
