Chase Briscoe’s win in Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega locks him into the Championship 4 alongside Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin with just two races left in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
Before the Talladega race, Hamlin was the only driver to have clinched a Championship 4 berth following his win at the South Point 400 at Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson currently hold the remaining two spots above the cutoff line, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish to the Round of 8 at Martinsville Speedway.
Bell finished a solid eighth on Sunday but Larson’s race was fraught with drama as he ran out of fuel on the final lap while contending for the win, ultimately limping to a 26th-place finish.
This misfortune saw Larson drop to a precarious fourth in the standings just one point behind Bell, as both find themselves in a must-win situation this weekend.
His Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Chase Elliott did not do any better. Byron encountered a late spin relegating him to a dismal 25th, while Elliott suffered a severe setback after an early crash forced him out of the race.
Joey Logano was the highest finisher among the playoff drivers below the cutoff line after coming home in 16th, while Ryan Blaney finished 23rd.
