Max Verstappen cuts Lando Norris’ Formula 1 championship lead to 12 points and takes second in the F1 drivers standings following his commanding victory at the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix.
The Dutchman executed a well-coordinated race strategy and tyre management to claim his seventh win of the year, ensuring a three-way title showdown heading to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix season finale.
Following the Qatar GP, Lando Norris continues to lead the drivers’ championship albeit by a slimmer margin following a strategy blunder by McLaren that saw him finish fourth in Qatar.
Oscar Piastri finished the Qatar race in second but lost championship runner-up spot to Verstappen. However, the Australian remains tightly locked in the chase.
George Russell continues to hold fourth place, while Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton remain in fifth and sixth despite yet another disappointing weekend for the Scuderia.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, Williams pair Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz, and Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar complete the top ten in the current F1 drivers standings.
