The Australian veteran brings invaluable continuity, having endured Pramac’s challenging 2025 transition year where the team languished at the bottom of the constructors’ standings with just 125 points—40 fewer than LCR Honda—amid Yamaha’s inline-four struggles.

“Absolutely. And I mean, they’ve gone all-in on this new project,” the Australian said at the launch. “Obviously, the bikes are changing in 2027… but they had to do something.
“And then, come ‘27, they will have a whole heap more information. The Yamaha engineers have been busting their arses for the last 18 months. And they’ll continue probably for the next 24 [months]!
“But that’s the way it goes in this game. It’s all a learning process for what’s to come in the not-so-distant future.”
