Jeremy Clarkson honours his bet to buy F1 team beers after podium finish

Jeremy Clarkson honoured his bet to buy beers for every member of the Alpine F1 team after Esteban Ocon’s podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Jeremy Clarkson promised that he would gift the Alpine Formula 1 team with free beers if the team delivered a podium finish. He has now delivered on that promise following Esteban Ocon’s podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The team’s headquarters are based in Enstone, Oxfordshire, which puts them the closest to Clarkson’s farm, which is the center of the Amazon TV series “Clarkson’s Farm.” Given that the Alpine crew is close by, Clarkson, who hosted the venerable British automotive program Top Gear, has a special connection with the team.

The Grand Tour host has found it difficult to avoid F1 this season after attending the Bahrain season opener and visiting a track for the first time in years. He mentioned all the teams he would have reason to support on that occasion, but he specifically mentioned the neighboring team Alpine.

In the Monaco Grand Prix, Clarkson publicly supported the Enstone-based team, tweeting in the middle of the race:””Come on Alpine. I’ll buy you all a pint if you get a podium here.”

Ocon, who was not aware of the added pressure ultimately battled on to finish as the first driver this season not from one of the top three teams to feature on the podium. As Ocon took the chequered flag, Clarkson again tweeted: “Well done Alpine. I owe you many Hawkstones.”

Finally making good on his promise, Clarkson delivered the free Hawkstone beers to the Alpine headquarters.

In addition to delivering a shipment of beers to the Alpine corporate office, Clarkson did so elegantly. The 63-year-old arrived at the scene driving a tractor from the television series “Clarkson’s Farm” and pulling a trailer loaded with beer.

Alpine acknowledged that Clarkson had indeed kept his word in a Monday afternoon tweet: “Delivering on his word. Cheers for the beers, Jeremy Clarkson.” The TV host was spotted with Esteban Ocon, who turned his P3 qualifying finish into a podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Clarkson, who is never one to pass up a chance, also used his access to the Alpine F1 car to brand the A523 with his beer’s logo.
