Pramac Yamaha is set to confirm Jack Miller‘s contract for 2026 MotoGP in a few days as Yamaha responds to his growing frustrations over the prolonged delay in finalizing his extension.
The Australian rider’s seat had been uncertain for months with Yamaha’s hesitation to make an official decision causing visible irritation for Miller, who publicly issued an ultimatum ahead of the Hungarian GP earlier this month.
His demands for clarity and speed in the negotiation process finally prompted Yamaha executives to act swiftly, culminating in a deal that will keep Miller on the grid alongside rookie teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu for another year.
Yamaha’s delay in confirming Miller’s future had multiple roots. After signing recently-crowned World Superbike champion Razgatlioglu for the satellite Pramac team’s 2026 lineup, one seat was left open meaning either Jack Miller or Miguel Oliveira will be axed at the end of the season.
This situation created a highly competitive and tense environment as the manufacturer explored other potential rookie riders, including Moto2 leader Manu Gonzalez and Diogo Moreira – both of whom were in discussions but ultimately either secured rides elsewhere or decided to remain in their current series, further prolonging the decision-making process.
The drawn-out uncertainty was a source of visible frustration for Miller who openly acknowledged his patience with Yamaha was wearing thin. He warned that if a decision was not made soon, he would consider moving on to other racing opportunities outside MotoGP.
The 30-year old rider hinted at options in other championships specifically mentioning an offer from BMW to race in the World Superbike Championship.
Miller made it clear that he is looking for a definitive role in Yamaha’s evolving project, which is preparing to launch a new V4 MotoGP bike in 2026 to replace its current inline-four machine.
Following Miller’s ultimatum, it has been reported Yamaha MotoGP boss Paolo Pavesio and Pramac team manager Gino Borsoi met with Miller and his representative Aki Ajo during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend at Balaton Park.
The meeting quickly brought progress with Yamaha offering Miller a contract renewal for the 2026 MotoGP season, which he accepted and is awaiting official signing.

“I really like him as a person,” Pavesio told The Race on Thursday after Miller’s rant. “I didn’t know him before. I understand the personal frustration and I also heard the recording of the interviews.
“I think it was the fourth question in a row asking the exact same thing, and I also understand that you guys [journalists] have your job to do but sometimes you make them [riders] do another job, which is controlling their emotion a bit to the limit.
“I think we have a very good relationship personally and as a manufacturer this is also proven by Jack joining the Suzuka 8 Hours team and doing a very good job, which for Yamaha is something very special.
“We are in a very special year next year where we will hopefully have a brand new bike with an engine configuration that our riders, the factory riders in the Monster team, don’t have a lot of experience with.
“He knows that he is in very serious consideration. He knows this.”
Jack Miller’s contract extension with Pramac Yamaha effectively confirms Miguel Oliveira’s departure as his contract contains performance clauses that were not met this season, partly due to injuries.
The new contract secures Miller’s place as the experienced backbone alongside Razgatlioglu, whose arrival represents Yamaha’s strategic blend of seasoned veterans and fresh talent.
