Joe Gibbs Racing has confirmed Denny Hamlin contract extension to remain as the wheelman of the iconic No. 11 Toyota Camry but the 44-year old hints the multi-year deal is “most likely” his last.
This announcement, coming just days after Hamlin’s powerful win at Dover — his 58th NASCAR Cup career victory — marks not only a renewed chapter of competitiveness but also the continuation of one of the most storied partnerships in modern motorsport history.
Denny Hamlin’s relationship with Joe Gibbs Racing is unparalleled; every one of his 706 career Cup Series starts has unfolded for JGR, a team synonymous with excellence in NASCAR over the past two decades.
Hamlin made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2005 and is the single longest-serving driver in the organization’s history. Racing for nearly 20 years with the same outfit is virtually unheard of in any major sport, and Hamlin’s record with the team is as impressive as it is historic.
In the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season alone, Hamlin’s momentum has been relentless. With wins at Martinsville, Darlington, Michigan, and Dover, he currently sits at the summit for Cup Series victories this year, holding fourth in the regular-season point standings.
“Joe and everyone at JGR are family to me and have done so much for me over the last 20 years,” said Hamlin.
“We’ve had a solid start to this season and we have been able to welcome some great new partners this year, so there are a lot of exciting things happening with our team not only now, but also into the future.”

While the details surrounding Denny Hamlin contract extension remain confidential as per team policy, reports suggest he will remain at JGR through the 2027 season, meaning he will celebrate his 45th birthday still at the competitive vanguard of NASCAR Cup racing.
“For me, it’s all I feel comfortable with,” said Hamlin. “Three years? Who knows what can happen three years from now.
“I just want to make sure that I get Joe Gibbs Racing proper time and make sure I commit to them for not one year, multiple years. Let them try to build continue to build the program.
“No particular reason other than, if I was 26, I would take 10 years, but I just I want to make sure that I’m still at my peak form in my final year. That could be tailing off for three years, so I don’t want that.”
For Hamlin, this extension is likely to be his final chapter as a full-time NASCAR driver, a fact he himself acknowledged with candor: “I would say probably, most likely. Who knows, but most likely.“
Hamlin’s career at JGR is rich with accolades: three-time Daytona 500 winner, three Southern 500 wins, a Coca-Cola 600 triumph, 244 top-five finishes, and 369 top-10s, with a remarkable 44 poles to his name.
He has qualified for the playoffs 17 times, reached the Championship 4 on four occasions, and led over 13,900 laps during his time at the forefront of NASCAR competition.
Yet, one notable gap remains — the NASCAR Cup Series championship.
