Marco Bezzecchi leads Jorge Martin to Brazilian MotoGP victory in dominant Aprilia 1-2

Marco Bezzecchi delivered a masterclass in dominance at the Brazilian MotoGP, leading an unforgettable Aprilia 1-2 finish ahead of teammate Jorge Martin in a race marked by extreme heat and last-minute adjustments.

The Italian carved through hot, energy‑sapping conditions to claim his fourth successive MotoGP win, while the Spaniard’s runner‑up spot marked his best finish since his 2024 title‑winning campaign, underlining Aprilia’s resurgence as the class’s form team in the early stages of the 2026 season.

With the race distance slashed from 31 to 23 laps just minutes before the formation lap due to track‑surface degradation, tyre management and early‑lap aggression became the decisive themes, and Bezzecchi executed them with ruthless precision from lights‑out to chequered flag.

Pole sitter Fabio Di Giannantonio nailed the launch off the line but it was Marco Bezzecchi who unleashed a ferocious acceleration to dive inside into Turn 1, snatching the lead with surgical precision long before the braking zone.

Marc Marquez, meanwhile, started strongly from third, fending off Jorge Martin on the second Aprilia, who jumped Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo to take fourth as the latter lost momentum and dropped outside the top 10.

Further back, Ai Ogura on the Trackhouse Aprilia held onto sixth, while Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer maintained seventh amid the chaos.

Into Lap 2, Di Giannantonio ran slightly wide again at Turn 1 in a desperate bid to reclaim the lead, handing second place to Marquez on a plate, while Martin closed up to the rear wheel of the VR46 Ducati ready to pounce.

By Lap 5 Bezzecchi had elevated his advantage to 1.8 seconds as he chained consistent fastest laps, while the chasing pack splintered under his pressure.

Martin blasted past Di Giannantonio and Marquez in one fell swoop at Turn 4 on lap six after both Ducatis ran wide in their duel, catapulting the Spaniard to second and igniting an intra-team pursuit of Bezzecchi just 1.2s ahead.

Di Giannantonio regrouped in fourth but Marquez loomed large, probing for an inside line that never quite materialized.

The midway point amplified the drama as Martin’s pursuit intensified, trimming Bezzecchi’s lead to under a second before the leader responded with a purple sector on Lap 12 to restore the buffer to 1.5s.

Behind, Di Giannantonio and Marquez’s scrap boiled over when Marquez lunged at Turn 7, briefly seizing third, only for the VR46 rider to counterattack masterfully at Turn 12 the next lap to reclaim the position.

Ogura continued his ascent, passing Alex Marquez for fifth on Lap 13 amid fading soft rears for the midfielders including KTM’s Pedro Acosta who lost seventh to Aldeguer before stabilizing.

However, tragedy struck a lap later when Honda’s Joan Mir suffered a high side at Turn 9 in a fiery crash that brought out yellow flags, scattering debris but no red.

Francesco Bagnaia also tumbled his Ducati at the same corner moments later while pushing for ninth, ending Ducati’s hopes prematurely.

Lap 15 saw the field fracture further, with Bezzecchi cruising 2.5s clear, conserving his Michelins masterfully as track temperatures soared past 60 degrees Celsius, exacerbating degradation that claimed Brad Binder next—he slid out at Turn 2 while battling Jack Miller for 16th.

Martin remained locked in second, while Di Giannantonio aggressively defended third against Marquez’s late-braking assaults, the pair trading fastest laps in a micro-battle that captivated spectators.

The podium decider exploded on lap 20 when Marquez, smelling blood, repeated his Turn 7 move on Di Giannantonio, seizing third decisively, only to botch Turn 12 a lap later with a locked rear that let the Ducati slip back through, Di Giannantonio holding firm to the line.

Meanwhile, Bezzecchi cruised all the way to ultimately snag the first-ever Brazilian MotoGP victory by 3.2s over Martin who maintained a steady pursuit to solidify a phenomenal Aprilia 1-2 finish.
