Marco Bezzecchi recovered from a dramatic late crash to deliver a lap time of 1m28.652s, securing pole position in what marked the season’s opening Qualifying session at the Chang International Circuit.
Marc Marquez snatched a late second place for Ducati, 0.035s adrift, while Bezzecchi’s Aprilia stablemate Raul Fernandez delivered a breakout performance in third, 0.224s off the benchmark.
Fabio Di Giannantonio vaulted to fourth on the VR46 Ducati GP25 as factory Aprilia’s Jorge Martin slipped to fifth after his final push was marred by a run through the gravel.
Pedro Acosta maintained KTM honors in sixth, four tenths adrift, followed by Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez in seventh and Ai Ogura who marked another strong Aprilia showing in eighth place.
Franco Morbidelli nursed his Q1-crash-damaged VR46 Ducati GP25 machine to a gritty ninth, while Joan Mir led Honda’s Q2 effort in 10th.
