VR46 Ducati unveiled a much revised 2026 MotoGP livery dubbed “Black and Light” in a high-profile launch event held in Rome, marking a bold evolution in design.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by team owner and MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, riders Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli, Team Director Alessio Salucci, and Team Manager Pablo Nieto, captivating a global audience of fans and industry insiders.
The new design prominently features the team’s signature fluo yellow accents slashing across a matte black bodywork, creating a high-contrast “light in the dark” effect that enhances visibility under track lighting while evoking raw power and speed.
The new “Black and Light” theme replaces the yellow-and-white scheme of recent seasons, introducing a dominant black base accented by the signature fluorescent yellow synonymous with Rossi’s enduring legacy in motorcycle racing.
This strategic refresh not only signals VR46’s intent to reclaim podium dominance but also sets the tone for an intensely competitive 22-race 2026 MotoGP calendar ahead.
Valentino Rossi himself took the stage to elaborate on the livery’s conception, explaining that after maintaining the yellow-with-white secondary color for the past two years, the team sought a more “racing-oriented” vibe by incorporating black elements reminiscent of their classic palettes.
“This is the third season that we use a lot of yellow, our colour,” said Rossi. “In the last two years, we put the yellow with white. But for this year, we wanted something different, a bit more aggressive.
“The mechanics will be the happiest guys, because with the white, they spent a lot of time cleaning! White is more elegant, but black is more racing, so we hope they will be faster than last year.”

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, now in its fifth year in the premier class and second with enhanced factory Ducati support, positions this livery change as more than cosmetic—it’s a statement of renewed ambition following a winless 2025 campaign.
Technically, the team enters 2026 with a bifurcated machinery strategy that mirrors Ducati’s satellite allocation dynamics.
Fabio di Giannantonio secures the full factory-spec Ducati Desmosedici GP26, incorporating the latest chassis and aerodynamics, while Franco Morbidelli rides the GP25—the title-winning bike from Marc Marquez’s 2025 dominance with the official team.
The team declined to field a second GP26 due to prohibitive costs and Morbidelli’s inconsistency, redirecting it to Gresini for Alex Marquez.
An engine freeze, enforced since early 2025 for non-concession manufacturers like Ducati, levels the powerplant playing field across all Desmosedicis, shifting emphasis to setup finesse and rider prowess.
The VR46 Ducati unveiling marks the second team to debut their 2026 MotoGP colours just a day after Pramac Yamaha’s launch, igniting the new season with electrifying momentum.
