2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entry list

The officially released 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entry list features a total of 45 full-season entries: 11 GTP, 12 LMP2, 8 GTD PRO and 14 GTD.

The GTP class remains the pinnacle of the championship with 11 entries representing five major manufacturers: Porsche, Cadillac, BMW, Acura, and Aston Martin.

Notably, BMW has shifted its service and operational duties for its factory M Hybrid V8 cars to Team WRT, marking a significant change in the team landscape and possibly impacting the competitive rhythm of the factory BMW squad.

Porsche Penske Motorsport, Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing maintain two entries each, while Action Express Racing, JDC-Miller Motorsports and Heart of Racing return with a single entry each, the latter switching to full-time competition.

A notable absence is Proton Competition, which had fielded a Porsche 963 in previous endurance events but is not currently on the full-season list.

The LMP2 class grows to a 12-car field, signaling increasing interest and investment in this secondary prototype category.

United Autosports maintains two entries, while CrowdStrike Racing by APR, Tower Motorsports, TDS Racing, Era Motorsport, Inter Europol Competition, Pratt Miller Motorsports and AO Racing return with a single entry.

Newcomers include Team Tonis set for a full-season effort with an Oreca 07 following Road America debut, while Intersport Racing and Bryan Herta Autosport make a return in partnership with PR1/Mathiasen.

However, previously active AF Corse and Riley are not slated to return in LMP2.

In GTD Pro class, the field has seen a contraction from ten full-season entries to eight, reflecting some strategic shifts among teams and manufacturers.

DragonSpeed has switched down to GTD, while Paul Miller Racing has trimmed its operation from two full-season cars to a single entry, though the manufacturer is yet to be confirmed.

New entries include Risi Competizione, returning under its own banner, and Triarsi Competizione which steps up to GTD Pro with an endurance-cup-only program.

The GTD class is the largest and most diverse category, with 14 full-season entries confirmed.

Noteworthy in this category is the return of Riley Racing with a Ford Mustang GT3, as well as the full-season step-up of Van der Steur Racing.

AWA have updated their team name to 13 Motorsports, while RS1 steps up from IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

Beyond the confirmed full-season entries, IMSA expects additional cars for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, which traditionally attracts a larger field exceeding 60 competitors.
