2026 Czech MotoGP Friday Practice Results: Ai Ogura leads Aprilia 1-2, Jorge Martin misses Q2

Ai Ogura dominated Friday afternoon’s practice for the 2026 Czech MotoGP with a new lap record, leading an impressive Aprilia 1-2 ahead of Marco Bezzecchi as Jorge Martin misses Q2.

Ogura paced his Trackhouse RS-GP26 to a 1:51.735s flyer on his last attempt, beating championship leader Bezzecchi by just under a tenth, while VR46 Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio settled into third.

Friday afternoon’s practice at Brno opened with factory Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi immediately establishing himself as a front-runner by posting a 1m53.080s inside the first ten minutes of running, that stood as provisional benchmark.

However, the early pace quickly began to tumble as riders worked through the session, with KTM’s Pedro Acosta moving the reference lap forward to 1m53.002s after fitting a fresh medium rear tyre with thirty-seven minutes remaining on the clock.

Acosta’s lap was instantly beaten by Raul Fernandez on the Trackhouse Aprilia, who posted a 1m52.862s after switching to softs.

Ai Ogura then entered the picture in serious fashion with a 1m52.718s that established him as the session pacesetter and marked the beginning of his charge towards the top of the timesheet.

Bezzecchi responded by setting a new Brno lap record with a 1m52.275s, before Acosta moved the benchmark further forward to a 1m52.228s with just under twenty minutes remaining.

However, Acosta’s charge was abruptly halted by a technical issue on his RC16 that forced him to pause his session and return to the paddock for diagnostics.

Marc Marquez later smashed the lap record with a first-ever sub 1m51s lap, but his dominant charge was ultimately overshadowed by a crash at Turn 11, marking his second fall of the day.

Fabio Di Giannantonio went on to displace Marquez with a 1:51.942 on his final attempt, before Bezzecchi responded with a 1:51.826.

However, Ogura obliterated the field with a late 1:51.735s that ultimately stood as the new Brno lap record, with Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio settling for second and third.

Francesco Bagnaia took fourth with a late effort on the factory Ducati, pushing teammate Marquez to fifth just ahead of Acosta. Joan Mir led the Honda contingent in seventh despite crashing at Turn 7 with two minutes to go, while rookie Diogo Moreira, Fermin Aldeguer and Raul Fernandez completed the top 10.

Jorge Martin failed to secure an automatic Q2 spot after finishing 11th, adding to his double long-lap penalty woes.
