KTM’s Pedro Acosta emerged as the clear pace-setter in Friday afternoon’s MotoGP practice at Sepang ahead of Honda LCR’s Johann Zarco as Jack Miller put in a strong performance on his Yamaha M1 to finish third.
Joan Mir marked the second Honda in fourth-place followed by Fabio Quartararo who led the session briefly but eventually settled into fifth place.
Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing duo showed promising pace with Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli finishing sixth and seventh respectively, just ahead of KTM Tech3’s Pol Espargaro.
Alex Marquez recovered well from crashes to finish ninth fastest for Gresini, while Alex Rins rounded out automatic Q2 spots.
Among the names missing the top ten were Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia who struggled to find the optimum setup for the race weekend in 12th, followed by Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer in 13th despite topping FP1.
Marco Bezzecchi ended the session in 15th after struggling to fully unlock the potential of his Aprilia RS-GP bike on the tricky Sepang layout.
