Alex Palou claimed victory at the 2026 season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, propelling him to the top of the drivers standings with 53 points.
The four-time world champion delivered a masterclass performance, leading 59 of the 100 laps around the challenging 1.8-mile temporary street circuit to mark his 20th career win, extending his record streak of leading the standings to 28 consecutive races.
Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin sits second with 42 points after claiming pole and leading the race for 34 laps, while Christian Lundgaard‘s third-place finish for Arrow McLaren nets him 36 points in what promises to be a fiercely contested 2026 IndyCar season.
Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood sits fourth with 32 points with Pato O’Ward rounding out the top five for Arrow McLaren with 30.
Further back, Marcus Ericsson, Josef Newgarden, Romain Grosjean, Rinus VeeKay and rookie Dennis Hauger complete the top ten.
