The 2026 IndyCar schedule has been officially released, unveiling a dynamic lineup of 17 races that promises to deliver high-octane excitement, fresh challenges and notable changes that will shape the next season.
The series will kick off on March 1st on the iconic streets of St Petersburg, marking the fifth consecutive year the season opens in the scenic Florida city.
The early months of the season will feature an intensified race calendar with four events packed into just five weeks, offering fans back-to-back action unlike any recent season.
The first three races take place on consecutive weekends, starting March 1st on the streets of St. Petersburg, followed promptly by a Saturday race on March 7th at Phoenix Raceway, which marks IndyCar’s return to this historic 1-mile oval since 2018.
The Phoenix event is notably scheduled the day before a NASCAR Cup Series race at the same venue, underlining a strategic partnership between the two premier American racing series.
Just one week later, on March 15th, IndyCar will visit Arlington, Texas, for the first time ever, hosting a brand-new street race around the Texas Live! entertainment complex situated near the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium and the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field.
This highly anticipated new street course marks one of two fresh urban circuits introduced in the 2026 schedule and promises a unique and thrilling addition to the calendar.
Following a brief break, the action resumes on March 29th at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama before circling to the famed Streets of Long Beach on April 19th.
May brings one of the sport’s hallmark events: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course race on May 9th, building momentum and anticipation for the crown jewel of the season—the 110th running of the Indy 500, slated for May 24th.
Post-Indy, the series heads to the bustling Streets of Detroit on May 31st before heading to the World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis for an oval race slated for June 7th, with Road America concluding June’s schedule on 21st.
July’s races kick off with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 5th, followed by a shift to the oval at Nashville Superspeedway on July 19th – a move up from its previous summer position.
August is marked by races at Portland International Raceway on August 9th and introduces the second new street circuit of the year in Markham, Ontario, on August 16th.
Markham’s temporary 3.52-kilometer, 12-turn street course is designed to bring racing close to the city’s downtown area, replacing the traditional Toronto round and catering to suburban fans with a fresh and technically complex layout.
August concludes with a doubleheader weekend at the Milwaukee Mile on August 29th and 30th, reviving the historic oval track for two back-to-back races.
The season finale returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on September 6th.
All 17 races are set to be televised on FOX, ensuring extensive and accessible coverage for fans nationwide and around the world.
