Rinus Veekay switches to Juncos Hollinger Racing for 2026 IndyCar

Juncos Hollinger Racing has officially confirmed Rinus Veekay as their new lead driver for the 2026 IndyCar season, marking a return to the team and Chevrolet.

This move represents a reunion of some sort as Veekay previously raced with Juncos in the early stages of his career and won the 2018 Pro Mazda Championship before joining the Indy Lights series in 2019 under the same banner.

The 25-year old driver brings an impressive six seasons of IndyCar experience to Juncos Hollinger Racing.

“I’m excited to officially announce my move to Juncos Hollinger Racing,” said VeeKay. “This is a team with real momentum, high ambitions, and a clear vision for the future.

“There’s a shared determination to compete at the highest level, and I’m confident that together we can achieve great things.

“Signing with Juncos Hollinger Racing also feels like a return home – Juncos Racing gave me my start in the Pro Mazda Championship (now USF Pro 2000) in 2018, and we continued together in Indy Lights (now Indy NXT) in 2019, winning thirteen races and a championship title together.

“I believe this is the right environment for me to continue growing as a driver.”

Veekay’s tenure in IndyCar has been marked by a combination of promising achievements and steady development.

Beginning his IndyCar career with Ed Carpenter Racing, Veekay earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2020 and secured his maiden series win in the 2021 GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Dutchman holds five podium finishes and two poles over 97 career IndyCar starts, showcasing his capability to compete at the front of the field.

Rinus Veekay spent the past year at Dale Coyne Racing and finished 14th in the 2025 IndyCar standings with highlights including a second-place finish at Toronto, displaying his potential to challenge top contenders in the series.

Juncos Hollinger Racing team principal Dave O’Neill highlighted the significance of Veekay’s signing, noting that his blend of speed, consistency, race craft, and experience perfectly fits the team’s aspirations for sustained success.

“At Juncos Hollinger Racing, we’re fully focused on building a program capable of sustained high performance in the years ahead,” said O’Neill.

“We have exciting plans across every area of the team – on and off the track – and bringing Rinus on board is a major step in that direction. Reuniting with Rinus feels like a natural continuation of the success we’ve shared in the past.

“As Juncos Hollinger Racing enters its fifth full IndyCar season, and with Rinus bringing six seasons of IndyCar experience at just 25 years of age, we believe this reunion will deliver results quickly. He brings the ideal combination of speed, consistency, race craft, and experience that we’re looking for.

“Rinus will be a key part of a refreshed driver lineup that reflects our ambitions and long-term vision. We’re working hard to assemble the right mix of talent to elevate our competitiveness, and we’re confident that Rinus will play a central role in that progress.”

The team is yet to confirm who will partner with Veekay next year but Sting Ray Robb is believed to still have a contract for the 2026 IndyCar season which means Conor Daly will have to look for a seat elsewhere.

Daly and Robb concluded the 2025 season in 18th and 25th in the drivers’ standings, with Daly finishing as high as fifth in the season finale at Nashville.
