Max Verstappen teases Bathurst 1000 cameo after Supercar drive

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has teased his future appearance in the iconic Bathurst 1000 following his recent drive in Australian Supercar.

In a candid video released by Red Bull Racing on social media platforms, the Dutch sensation revealed his enthusiasm for the Australian touring car series, stating unequivocally that he piloted a Gen3 Supercar just last week and found the experience immensely enjoyable.

This revelation comes at a pivotal moment, as Verstappen’s comments not only highlight his broadening racing ambitions beyond the high-tech precision of Formula 1 but also underscore the deepening ties between Red Bull and the rugged world of Supercars Championship through their mutual partnership with Ford ahead of the 2026 F1 season.

Reports confirm he sampled a specially liveried 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Supercar, complete with Triple Eight’s Broc Feeney-inspired camo Red Bull Ampol graphics, during a secretive test session teased in Ford’s upcoming Detroit season launch event on January 15th.

When the Dutchman was asked of Supercars, he said: “I drove it last week, it was a lot of fun.” He went on to hint the possibility of a competitive cameo, adding: “Maybe Bathurst.”

Verstappen decisively rejected other series including NASCAR, IndyCar along with World Rally Championship, showcasing his discerning taste for racing formats that match his aggressive, endurance-minded style.

The Bathurst 1000, hailed as the Great Race, stands as one of the most demanding endurance events in global motorsport, contested annually on the perilous 6.213-kilometer Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales.

Nestled on a public road circuit that doubles as a tourist route outside race weekends, Mount Panorama’s layout features a staggering 174-meter elevation change, testing drivers with its narrow, wall-lined straights like Conrod Straight and the infamous Esses section that demands razor-sharp focus and bravery.

Max Verstappen’s interest in tackling this beast aligns perfectly with his reputation as a sim racing aficionado, where he has long mastered virtual laps around Mount Panorama, honing skills that translate seamlessly to real-world high-stakes racing.

The Supercar drive comes barely a month after Verstappen tested the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in portugal under his own Verstappen.com Racing GT3 team, with whispers linking him to a possible wildcard entry in the GT World Challenge this year.
