Marc Marquez tops the list of MotoGP riders with highest salaries

Marc Marquez was the most paid MotoGP rider on the 2023 grid despite his fallout with Honda.

Marc Marquez received a base salary of $16 million, which was more than twice the amount of the two most recent World Champions in the championship, Pecco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo.

According to data compilation website Sportspayouts, the Spaniard received the salary as part of a five-year contract he signed in 2019 and the Spaniard finished his eleventh final season with the Repsol Honda Team in 2023.

Although Marquez still had a year left on his contract, he switched to Gresini Racing Ducati after suffering long-term injuries during his time with Honda, which were set off by a crash in the opening round of the 2020 Spanish MotoGP season.

Ducati’s Pecco Bagnaia and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo received $5 million each while Aprilia Racing appreciated its riders heavily with Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro earning salaries of $4 million and $3 million, respectively.

2020 MotoGP World Champion Joan Mir is ranked highly as well, taking home $4 million while KTM’s Jack Miller earned $3 million which is in comparison to Brad Binder’s $1 million.

2023 MotoGP championship runner-up Jorge Martin looks like something of a bargain at $4 million compared to his departing Pramac Ducati teammate Johann Zarco, earning $675k. Marco Bezzecchi, who took third place overall in the 2023 standings after putting on a good fight received £300k.
