Jakarta E-Prix 2025 Results: Dan Ticktum snags maiden Formula E victory

Full Jakarta E-Prix 2025 Results – Dan Ticktum overcame a full course yellow and a late charge from Edoardo Mortara to claim his maiden Formula E victory.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol, northern Jakarta, the twelfth round of the 2024-25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship unfolded on June 21, 2025, marking the third running of the event.

Driving for Cupra Kiro, Dan Ticktum’s performance was characterized by a blend of tenacity and composure, particularly in the closing stages when he was forced to fend off a determined charge from Mahindra’s Edoardo Mortara.

As the lights went out, pole sitter Jake Dennis made a clean getaway immediately establishing control at the front. Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries also made a blistering start from the second row, leapfrogging Barnard to slot into second.

Ticktum also made his move past Jaguar’s Nick Cassidy for fourth while Nico Müller made immediate progress with a climb into the top ten within the opening laps.

The competition was fierce, with Jake Dennis who started on pole leading for 23 of the 38 laps. Dennis had shown strong form but his race took a downturn after a collision with Nyck de Vries, who was aggressively attempting to overtake using the extra power from Attack Mode.

This incident damaged Dennis’ front wing which eventually saw him tumble down the order, removing him from contention for the win.

Amid the turmoil, Ticktum seized his opportunity during the second round of Attack Mode activations on lap 29, overtaking Dennis to take the lead. From there, he faced intense pressure from Mortara who was comfortably faster in the closing laps.

However, Ticktum managed to hold his nerve aided by the race’s energy management rules that limited Mortara’s ability to mount a successful overtaking maneuver.

The defensive driving and strategic energy conservation secured Ticktum’s first Formula E victory, a milestone achieved in his 60th start and a huge breakthrough for the Cupra Kiro team who marked their first victory since Nelson Piquet Jr.’s win in Moscow nearly a decade ago.

Behind the leading duo, Nico Müller delivered one of the standout drives of the day. Starting 13th, the Swiss ace carved through the field with a combination of strategic acumen and clinical overtaking, ultimately claiming third place and his first podium with Andretti.

Antonio Felix da Costa finished a solid fourth while Nick Cassidy rounded out the top five. Taylor Barnard despite his earlier setback salvaged sixth for NEOM McLaren followed closely by teammate Sam Bird in seventh.

Envision Racing’s duo of Sebastian Buemi and Robin Frijns finished eighth and ninth respectively, while championship leader Oliver Rowland endured a challenging weekend after struggling in qualifying but managed to scrape a single point with a tenth-place finish for Nissan.

The Jakarta E-Prix was particularly cruel to several drivers including Nyck de Vries who had looked set for a podium, but was forced out after his collision. Both Maserati drivers—Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes—also failed to finish as did DS Penske’s Maximilian Günther.
