Mir, Marini unveil Honda 2026 MotoGP livery

Joan Mir and Luca Marini revealed an unchanged Honda 2026 MotoGP livery that clearly signals continuity after a season of steady recovery for the Japanese giant.

Rather than opting for a radical redesign, the factory squad has chosen to retain the same colour scheme and overall look that marked its step forward in 2025, a decision that underlines confidence in both its technical direction and commercial partnerships as it enters the last year of the current 1,000cc era.

For Mir and Marini, who remain unchanged as Honda’s factory line-up for 2026, the familiar livery is more than just aesthetics; it frames a campaign in which both riders are expected to convert the brand’s recent progress into regular podium contention and, whenever possible, a return to the top step.

The 2026 Honda RC213V once again appears in the classic corporate red, white and blue colours that have defined Honda’s modern Grand Prix identity, with the design closely mirroring last year’s machine.

The graphics remain clean and angular, highlighting the aerodynamic surfaces of the fairing while preserving a strong visual link to Honda’s long-standing racing heritage in the premier class.

Castrol now in its second year as title sponsor of the factory project continues to feature prominently on the fairing and tail, while still allowing Honda’s own branding to dominate in a balance that reflects both the commercial importance of the partnership and the manufacturer’s desire to keep the bike instantly recognisable on track.

The unchanged Honda 2026 MotoGP livery also coincides with a period of tangible on-track improvement, particularly during the 2025 campaign when the RC213V transformed from a regular backmarker into a machine capable of scoring top-six finishes and occasional podiums.

Honda’s step forward was enough to lift the manufacturer to fourth in the final championship standings, placing it ahead of Yamaha and confirming that the development direction, while still a work in progress, is yielding competitive gains.

The new challenger continues that evolution rather than reinventing it, with HRC management having already cooled expectations of “massive changes” in favour of a step-by-step approach that consolidates the lessons learned throughout 2025.

Technically, the 2026 Honda RC213V retains the core platform that was evaluated intensively during the pre-season shakedown at Sepang where test rider Aleix Espargaro and new LCR recruit Diogo Moreira logged early mileage.

The bike’s aerodynamics continue to feature prominent front wings and sculpted side fairings designed to optimise braking stability and corner-entry grip, while engine and chassis refinements aim to improve acceleration and rider confidence without sacrificing their recent performance upturn.

On the rider side, Honda’s commitment to Joan Mir and Luca Marini for another season sends a similarly clear message.

Mir, a former MotoGP world champion, delivered two podiums in 2025, confirming that with a more competitive package he remains capable of extracting high performance and fighting at the sharp end of the field.

Marini, meanwhile, built a reputation for consistency by finishing in the points in nearly every Sunday race, particularly finding form in the second half of the season when he was often Honda’s strongest representative.

Both riders now enter their third year together at HRC, fully aware that 2026 could prove decisive both for their own futures and for Honda’s positioning ahead of the new technical rules due in 2027.
