Jorge Martin will start Sunday’s MotoGP race from pole, leading an all-Aprilia-powered front row alongside Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura.
Qualifying saw Jorge Martin snatch pole position from the clutches of Trackhouse Aprilia’s Fernandez by just 0.021 seconds on the very last lap of Q2.
Martin’s flyer not only secured him the top spot for both the Sprint race and Sunday’s Grand Prix but also established a new outright lap record at Silverstone, eclipsing the previous best set by his factory Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi earlier in the weekend.
Japanese sensation Ai Ogura, completed the Aprilia trio in third with Martin’s factory teammate Bezzecchi returning from injury to claim fifth on the grid.
Fabio di Giannantonio was the highest-placed Ducati rider in fourth, with Marc Marquez rounding out the second row after qualifying sixth.
The third row of the grid features Alex Marquez, Franco Morbidelli and Pedro Acosta lined up in seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
Francesco Bagnaia will start from the sixth row after failing to advance to Q2, leaving him with a mountain to climb if he is to challenge for podium honors.
