Pfaff Motorsports set for IMSA exit after 2026 season

Pfaff Motorsports is set to withdraw from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the end of the 2026 season amid landmark GTD Pro class victory.
According to reports, the Canadian squad’s planned departure was communicated to team members before last weekend’s Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America where Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell went on to deliver the first win with the Lamborghini Temerario GT3.
Pfaff Automotive President and CEO Chris Pfaff went on to explain the key reason behind the IMSA exit was to refocus attention towards Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where he is part of the new ownership group that took over the track at the end of 2025.
“We’ve had a great run, I’ve really enjoyed being part of IMSA,” Pfaff said. “But we’ve made an investment in CTMP, and I have plans to do a lot to that facility, invest in infrastructure and make it a track used for a number of things in motorsport and car culture; we want it to be a 12-month-a-year facility.
“However, we are looking at other options for the team. We couldn’t look to commit for next year, so it was best to let everyone know and give them a lot of notice. But I haven’t shut the door. I’m looking at other possibilities, which I’m excited about, but there’s nothing I can speak of at this time.
“I want to continue to work in motorsports, not just as a track owner, but in other areas in IMSA and other places. Pfaff Motorsports will continue; it will move on and develop. I hope to make it a bit broader in what it does.”
Pfaff Motorsports joined the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2019 and went on to claim back-to-back GTD and GTD Pro class championships in 2021 and 2022, including victory in the Rolex 24 at Daytona as a Porsche customer.
The team later partnered with McLaren in 2024 before shifting to Lamborghini Squadra Corse since 2025, where they ran the Huracan GT3 EVO2 and debuted the Temerario GT3 this year.
