Oscar Piastri emerged as the clear leader during the sole practice for Formula 1‘s Qatar Grand Prix, beating McLaren team-mate and title rival Lando Norris.
Following closely was Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso who lit up the timing screens midway through the session, vaulting to second just 0.386 seconds behind Piastri.
Williams’ Carlos Sainz impressed in fourth while Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar stole headlines in fifth, just 0.579 seconds off the benchmark.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen methodically progressed from midfield times in the opening 10 minutes to sixth overall, followed by Alexander Albon in the second Williams car.
Charles Leclerc was the leading Ferrari in eighth, while Lance Stroll and Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top ten.
