Sauber's flame-inspired livery unveiled ahead of this weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix

Sauber’s flame-inspired livery has been unveiled ahead of the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix, showcasing a bold design that captures the spirit of both the team and the vibrant city it races in.

The special livery developed in collaboration with their title sponsor Stake features striking green flames that adorn the team’s C44 car, symbolizing their relentless determination and passion as they approach the final races of the 2024 F1 season.

The announcement of Sauber’s flame-inspired livery comes after several days of anticipation and teasers shared on social media. The unique design marks a departure from the all-black design the team sported during last year’s inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The new look incorporates neon green elements, reflecting the branding of Stake, an online casino and sports betting platform that has been a major partner for the Hinwil-based outfit throughout the season.

According to the team’s official press release, the flames are “a symbol of the team’s unwavering spirit: this team doesn’t give up until the very end, no matter what challenges are thrown in front of it: just as flames flicker and blaze without ceasing, our fiery determination burns bright across every lap.”

Team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi emphasized that this livery is more than just a visual change; it embodies the ethos of Sauber and its partnership with Stake.

“We take every race as an opportunity, on and off the track, and that includes maximising returns for our partners and continuing to deliver exceptional value for them as well,” said Bravi.

“Stake has always helped us create some impressive one-off designs and this is no different. Our special livery for Las Vegas Grand Prix is more than just a design – it’s a representation of our team’s ethos and of Stake’s philosophy.”

The flames on the car are not merely for decoration; they represent Sauber’s unwavering spirit in the face of challenges.

“We push forward with relentless passion, just as this city does, and we’re excited to showcase our fiery spirit on one of the most thrilling stages in motorsport,” he added.

“Stake has supported us throughout the season and, just as they backed this ambitious livery design, they will further back us in one of the most special of races of the season.”

This message resonates particularly well as Sauber currently sits at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship standings without any points to their name. Their best finish this season was an 11th place by Zhou Guanyu at the Bahrain Grand Prix, underscoring their struggles throughout 2024.

As part of Sauber’s flame-inspired livery, both outgoing drivers Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas will don updated race suits that feature the same flame motif. The team’s garage will also reflect this vibrant design, further immersing fans in the fiery theme during race weekend.

This attention to detail showcases the team’s commitment to creating a cohesive brand experience that resonates with fans and partners alike.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is set against a backdrop of glitz and glamour, making it one of the most anticipated events on the Formula 1 calendar. Last year’s inaugural race was marked by extravagant displays and special liveries from multiple teams, and it appears that this year will be no different.

Sauber’s decision to adopt a one-off livery aligns with a growing trend among F1 teams to leverage unique designs to enhance their visibility and connection with fans during key races.

As the team prepares for this weekend’s race, they will be looking to capitalize on any opportunity to score points in what has been a challenging season. The pressure is on as they face a triple-header to conclude the 2024 campaign, which includes races in Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, and another yet-to-be-determined location.
